This has probably been posted here before, but someone asked about affordable shoes...
I imagine this community is probably aware of this phenomenon, but then maybe not as it seems to surprise people every time it's brought up, and I just read a thread about shoes where nobody seemed to mention this. Say you buy a pair of shoes, wear them every day, and they last you two years. According to well-corroborated legend, if you buy TWO pairs of that very shoe and alternate which pair you wear every day, then BOTH pairs of shoes will last you TWICE as long! (Maybe even longer!) This has to do with sweat and oil secretions from your feet, and the wear on your shoe's material that occurs when being worn while still slightly wet and soft from the previous day's foot juices. In other words, dry shoes last longer. Sounds crazy but it's true. If you buy two pairs of shoes and alternate them daily, you can get up to four times the bang for your buck
