Anyone offer pies for free things? What did you get in exchange?

I have found that If I offer a hot freshly baked pie to people in exchange for things I need, I can get a whole bunch of things for free(except the cost of the pie)

For instance: a tire shop will let me go through the used tires and take what I want. I got a load of wood chips from the tree trimmers.

Anyone try this technique? What were you able to do with it?
