Girlfriend and I plan on staying in Orlando for close to a week and want to go to Universal.

This might have been asked quite often, but will try my luck too; never know when there might be some new input.

Any tips and tricks based on (personal or not) experience in getting the most convenient (price is a major factor) hotels + universal studio tickets?
