What do you use to clean your AC unit?

So I just realized my AC isn’t working as well and watched videos about how you are supposed to clean the coils in it twice a year. There seems to be a special cleaner for it but I was wondering if I could use a cleaner I already have or just soap. Thanks for any advice.
