Looking to buy a beater from a private owner in cash, and this will be my first time buying a car unassisted. What should I know?
I have a budget of $4k, and I'm planning on mid-2000's Corolla, Camry, or Civic, in order of preference, since I know some things about DIY repairs on Toyotas and Hondas from owning them.
What scams and pitfalls in car buying should I look for? What's the best place to look: Craigslist, FB Marketplace, or an auto site? Any financial advice regarding hidden costs?
