I'm giving up. What could be the best place to find a remote/freelance IT manager jobs?
Hi everyone! My first post. :)
I have these weird sort of situation then you understand that something goes wrong but you don't understand what.
I have about 10 years working in IT. I started from web development, later specialized in Frontend development. Spent a few years making interfaces for companies of different sizes. And, eventually, switched to a management role and successfully had to do all of the responsibilities. After a couple of years, I realized that I completely burnt out, left the company and spent a few months traveling and happily wasting my savings.
All the time while I traveled I had an idea that it will be not a big deal to find a job on the internet. And when I eventually started to look for something I started to face weird things.
– UpWork declined my application because "our marketplace already has many freelancers with a similar skillset to yours". Although I have a pretty good experience. At least in my opinion :)
– Other freelance websites swarmed and filled in by orders like this: "want to build a eCommerce website with admin panel & with user in android APP – $180".
– Glassdoor and Indeed doesn't work well with remote positions
I feel that I'm doing something wrong. It shouldn't be so hard to find remote clients or employer. I still don't have any intentions to search for an office job but I'm close to giving up.
How are you guys and girls handle it? What I'm doing wrong? Or I want too much?
What could be the best place to search for a remote job or clients if you are the IT manager (or even a developer)?
