Question about proper procedure for installing games in order to receive SB credit when level reached

Hey all! I am currently playing Coin master, Board Kings, Solitaire Harvest and 2 Casino games in order to get the free SB. I saw on a Reddit tutorial earlier today that you're supposed to download the app by using the link provided by email, rather than downloading it on the app store. I'm confused because when I ask for the link and I click it always says "This offer cannot be completed..." but when I click the "Get 1500 Swagbucks" (or whatever amount it is) button under the offer in Discover, it asks if I want to download the app; I've been downloading it that way and playing. I hope this doesn't mean that I won't get my Swagbucks when I reach the required levels! Can anyone clarify this? TIA!
