To the people who are living that cheap laundry alternative life, how does one wash their comforters without a washing machine?

I've been trying to find videos on doing such thing, but coming up with no results. I'm really asking mainly because I'm planning on living in an apartment years down the line (I'm 23) and want to try to find different alternatives to doing laundry without the use of a big $$$ washer/dryer. So, any tips I could use would be helpful!
