Rev Captioning Test - Questions
Hi guys,
So, I recently applied as a captioner for Rev, but I wasn't accepted; I meticulously went through my work, grammar, etc. Now, I have read about Rev's horrible wages and ethics, but this is sort of the only way I can make fast, easy money that is legit. So, having failed the test, I just wanted to ask a few questions:
- Has anyone been accepted as a captioner lately? And if so, are there any tips you feel comfortable sharing with me in regard to the test? I have a feeling that maybe I'm messing up on the timestamps.
- Is it true that even if you use another email to apply again, Rev can pick up your IP and will reject your application because of this?
- I've heard some people say that Rev rejects your application even if you did okay because they already have enough people doing the work? Is this true? I do see on their website a notice to say they get a lot of applications and that you'll be placed on a waiting list, but I did get an email stating that there's a growing demand for captioners, so not sure.
- Does location matter? I'm not from the US, so I was wondering if there is a preference in US applicants, (which I completely understand, not hating, just wondering if that's the case).
I know Rev isn't a great company but in my country, you can actually make a decent living on what they pay and I am pretty desperate since I have no other source of income atm. Also, I'm not making excuses about why I didn't get accepted and I hope my post doesn't come across that way, I just wanted to know if these other factors affect my chances. I would like to try to do the test again and try to be more thorough.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks, everyone! :)
