Want a $9 fridge? Check your local fixer upper store

Over the summer i got a temp job at Menards (essentially the same as the Home Depot and Lowes) and when my manager was touring me the store, he showed me broken down/dumped off appliances. Theres a location out in the store yard available to the customers where you can buy these if they want. People just drop them off and most of the time these appliances are filthy and look like they dont work. However, many only appear that way.

My manager explained how around 5 years ago he saw one of the fridges there that was listed for $9 and he purchased it. The inside was disgusting, but not anything a little bleach couldn’t clean out. It was a perfectly good fridge and after it was all cleaned up it has worked perfectly fine for the last 5 years. This is a solid $500-600 fridge we are talking here.

I dont know if this is exclusively at Menards only, but I assume Home Depot and Lowes have something similar. There were items such as dryers, washers and fridges. So go check it out!
