Shopkick and other barcode scanners

I've very recently heard of Shopkick, which apparently pays you to scan your groceries QR codes without buying them.

Even if the payout seems low, I'm wondering if anyone tried it, if it's legit and how long it takes to earn minimum payout. If you have better alternatives than shopkick, please drop them here as well
