Is recycling cans and bottles worth it?

We go through a lot of soda in my house and I always feel somewhat guilty throwing them out (I still recycle them, they just go in the mixed recycling bin to get picked up rather than going to the recycling center to be exchanged for $$). Is it worth the hassle?
