Be frugal with your time

No comments :

Frugality is about saving money.

Time is money. So if you can save time by spending money it might actually help you in the long run.

For example, I’m a younger guy (23 years old). I’m taking advantage of my youth and vigor to work a shit load of hours and save for my future.

So I usually work 60 - 70 hours a week. Working more means I can’t do things like cook during the weekdays.

I’m also starting a powerwashing business this summer for weekend work. So meal prep is off the table.

So for me, it makes sense to get takeout. I need sleep and rest to stay sane, and saving $15-20 a day just isn’t worth losing even more time on my weekends.

This summer I’ll be working 80 hours a week. My income will skyrocket as I’ll be able to pull in an extra $500-800 a weekend. Not all of that will be net. But the principle stands.

By eating out I am saving my time. And then by turning around and re-allocating that 4-5 hours of meal prep and dishes and groceries, I can net $150-300 more a week for my time.

Sometimes spending money to save time is completely worth it. Frugality isn’t always about lowering your bottom line.
