Prepaid phone plans compared

No comments :

I've been increasingly interested in reducing my phone bill and looked at some prepaid options and this is what I found. I'm pretty sure I got the math right. I compared Google Fi, Verizon, and TMobile prepaid plans. the last "TMobile current plan" is a personal reference for me to compare to, which is the plan I'm currently on (military plan).

I wanted the pixel 4a because it's affordable and not a bad device. but if you want to bring your own phone you currently have you can just subtract $350 from most of these calculations.

Google Fi flexible (at data cap of 6gb) w/pixel 4a subscription $2280/24mos

 breakdown: $15(pixel)+$20 plan+$60($10/GB) x24mos

Google Fi flexible (at 1gb/mo) w/pixel 4a subscription $1080/24mos (super unrealistic)

breakdown: $15(pixel)+$20 plan+$10($10/GB) x24mos

Google Fi unlimited w/pixel 4a subscription $2040/24mos

 breakdown: $15(pixel)+$70 plan x24mos

Conclusion: Google Fi is actually not a very good deal for me. if you like the option for an upgrade after 24 months and device protection it might be good for you. I haven't broken a phone over the last few phones I've had. also with the pixel being $350 it would still be cheaper to buy a second phone with any of the plans below if you ever trash it so bad you need a new one.

the following do not come with device protection or upgrade features after 24mos:

This one is a little complicated. Verizon unlimited prepaid $1260/24mos 3 months at $60 = $180 6 months at $55 = $330 15 months at $50 = $750

 +$350 for pixel 4a =$1610

t-mobile unlimited prepaid $1200/24mos $50/mo

 +$350 for pixel 4a =$1550

t-mobile prepaid (10gb/mo)$960/24mos $40/mo

 +$350 for pixel 4a =$1310

t-mobile current plan $1320/24mos $55/mo

 +$350 for pixel 4a =$1670
