House or Apartment

Dear All,

I'm trying to build a savings for a house in the next couple of years. Unfortunately where I live the price of a modest sized house can be about 500K. I was considering just renting for 10 years and then moving to a less expensive place with more cash for a house saved. I have been reading up on personal finance and basic savings principles, but I would like to do more increase my savings rate and rate of return on saved cash. Do you have any suggestions on what I might do?
