Run central air or window unit AC?

Hi all! I recently moved into a 6 bedroom apartment with 5 friends. I already owned a window unit air conditioner from my previous place, but the new place has central AC. I struggle to sleep unless it's pretty cool at night, and I need some form of air conditioning to actually feel well-rested. I understand that central air generally is far more efficient as a way of cooling an entire building (albeit with high upfront costs). However, my friends are native southerners who are fine just having a fan running at night. I'm pretty much the only one who needs air conditioning, but my understanding is that insulation is a p big deal and it's very difficult to try to get my window unit to only cool my room. So, my question: should we run central air at night and turn off all of the fans/not run the window unit, or should I just use my window unit to cool my room and let everyone else run their fans?
