Has anyone here gone to Costa Rica (or anywhere in South America) for surgery?

I need my tonsils out BAD. I unfortunately don't have enough medical history in the US because healthcare is so damn expensive that I'm obviously not going to go to the doctor every time my problem flares up. Besides that, it's like $5000 minimum for a tonsillectomy. I've heard good things about Cima in Costa Rica. I already got approval from a doctor there to do the surgery for $2500. With all the expenses, it should cost under $4k and I'd get to go to Costa Rica for a couple days before surgery.

Has anyone else gone to Cima? Would you recommend anywhere else in South America? Any specific facilities? I've read that the surgery can be way cheaper. Like, $1200. Obviously, that would be cool.
