Don’t fall for service fees for basic clerical edits

No comments :

After a year and a half, my girlfriend finally got officially divorced a few months ago. She’s been changing her last name back to her maiden name on everything she has (credit cards, social security, drivers license, etc.) and had already booked a few flights under her married name.

To make sure she wouldn’t have any issues she called the airline and asked to change the last name on the tickets. The customer support guy told her it would be $50 to make the change so she said she’d hold off and just use her old license.

Then he said, “Wait, let me see if I can use a promo code. Okay, it’s now only $25.”

“No thanks, I’ll still hold off on it.”

“Let me try one more thing. Okay ma’am, it’s now free of charge. This is not normal but we will do it for you this time.”

The bullshit some companies pull to squeeze money out of you is ridiculous and often they’d do it for free. That’s literally what the customer support team is for.
