Help with my disabled father
My dad is severely disabled and lives with me as I’m his primary caretaker (im military). He receives $1200 a month for his disability check and has Medicare Insurance (his provider is called Allwell). My dad eats through a Tube Feed and was living off a meal shake for the last 2 years but as of 3 months ago he’s had severe diarrhea and has lost 30 lbs.... Its been so bad he has started falling down and having serious issues. In an act of panick and after much research I started making him shakes using GNC Mass Gainer and mixing it with healthy protein and veggies powders. Its helped a lot but its a temporary solution. I finally got him into his GI doc and Dietician who recommended some very expensive feed solution, Vital 1.5 nutritional supplement.
This stuff is $200 for a 4 day supply. There’s no way my dad or myself can afford this. Would Medicare or any government services help us? I dont know where to turn. Thank you in advance for any input.
We live in Florida. I’ve applied for ElderSource Care.
