Would a PC or a Mac be a better choice for beginning my online work life?

I currently work outside my home two days per week. I plan to make the rest of my income working online. I don’t know exactly how yet.

My dad is helping me get set up with a new computer. I get the impression that a PC might offer me the most flexibility as I explore my options, but I’m not sure.

I’m asking because the three home computers I’ve had have been Macs, and my dad prefers them, but when I worked in an office I learned that most of the business world runs with PCs.
