Is hiring an interior designer worth it?

My wife and I recently purchased a fixer upper with very unique architecture that we plan to live in long-term. We are doing all of the work ourselves, but we don’t have great taste... We’ve spent a lot of time on sites like Pinterest and Houzz, but the house is just too unique to find ideas that look correct for it. Should we hire a local interior designer (~$10k) to give us an overall vision and specific plan for the house?

Is there a more frugal way to get a professional interior designer involved?

We are very frugal generally, but we spend a lot of time here. We want this house to feel like home, so we are leaning toward working with a professional. I would love to hear your thoughts.
