Frugal toilet care tips
After going out today and seeing a lot of empty spaces on the shelves, there are some things that might not be considered that could still be available to those of us who do not have the means to stock up.
If you have access to a washing machine, especially one in your own home, consider cloth for wiping. I see a lot of people recommending a bidet attachment for their toilets, which is doable, if you have the funds. Cloth great. The cheap, thin wash cloths that are for, "babies" are the best. They have a soft, nubby texture on one side, the other side is smooth. When I cloth diapered, I used cheap baby wash cloths for wipes and tossed them into a wet bag after. A lot of countries have terrible plumbing and ask that you throw your toilet paper waste into a bin, instead of flushing. Not that we're there yet but old sheets, towels, t-shirts, undies, they can all be used as wipes and be washed.
Look for cloth diaper spray hose attachments. When I started cloth diapering my first child, I did some research on attachments for toilets that would allow me to spray off fecal matter from my kid's cloth diapers.
I did my initial searches for a cloth diaper sprayer with the intent that it would only be used for pre cleaning dirty cloth diapers and once I stopped looking for a sprayer on brand sites, I found an attachment for a toilet that would fit my needs. The water pressure is intense and cold. I can't adjust the temperature but I can finagle the pressure.
Peri bottles are also something to consider. Doesn't even have to be a peri bottle. For those of you who aren't familiar with what a peri bottle is, it's a squeeze bottle that is given to people who gave birth. You fill it with water and rinse your genitals and bum with water until they're clean from urine or feces.
On a related note: No one is buying bleach or spray bottles. Bleach is caustic but, if you're in an area where all hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes are sold out, as well as rubbing alcohol and aloe vera gel, (I live in one of those areas) there is still plenty of bleach available for home maintenance. Please do not consider this for personal hygiene, i.e. do not use it on your body or anyone else's body, at all, not even diluted.
Just some things I thought i'd put out there, in case no one else has considered it and/or knew.
