[Tip] A frugal hygiene tip

No comments :

This is going to sound kinda weird, but a really good, cheap hygiene trick?

Baking soda as a deodorant. Just rub it into your stinky bits, and BAM! You're destanked!

Its cheap. For instance, a 16oz box cost me a whopping 49¢.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! It works as:

  • a chub rub powder. Getting heat rash on your thighs? Baking soda is here to help! Actually, applying it either as a powder, or sitting in a warm bath with it added, can help with several itchy skin problems, including bug bites!

  • a general deodorizer. Shoes, fridges, smelly sink drains, being sprayed by a skunk, stanky cat that rolled in a dead bird... It'll kill the stank.

  • hair care! Many people living frugal lower the quality (aka price,) of their shampoo and conditioner. You can wash your hair with it on occasion and it can seriously help with oilyness and dandruff. (you want to use conditioner after though, because it will pull the oil out and can make your hair a bit dry if you're not prone to oil.)

  • washing clothing! Want to cut costs on laundry? BAM! Baking soda. The poor man's oxyclean! (do some research obviously, this isn't suitable for all fabrics.)

  • brushing your teeth! The occasional brushy with baking soda can help oxidize the stains on your teeth, whitening them for a lot cheaper than a treatment. (Don't do it too much though. As with all things, moderation is key. Don't ruin your oral health!)

  • general purpose cleaning! There's a million things you can clean with baking soda. Dishes, ovens, fridges, tubs, metal... Baking soda and vinegar is an easy to make, cheap, super versatile cleaning solution good for many surfaces.

Baking soda is such a versatile and cheap product. It can seriously lower your budget, when you add up the costs of various cleaning, hygiene, and health care products.
