Lionbridge tax question UK

I've recently applied for a position at Lionbridge and they say I have to become a sole trader. I was reading up and the tax free personal allowance in the UK is £12,500. If I earn less than that a year working with Lionbridge do I still have to apply as a sole trader?

All this tax talk is hurting my brain, any help is appreciated.
