What are somethings you do that aren't frugal when it comes to comfort?

With me:

A good mattress...I have always gone to mattress stores and have "tried out" beds there. I compare the in-store prices with online prices.

Air conditioning...I'm someone who likes it cold in a room. Having an open window and a fan isn't enough.

Stay in nice places when I travel (try to find the best price though)...I used to do the hostel and cheap, no thrill hotel thing. Honestly now that I'm older, it's nice to have a really comfortable, attractive hotel room to return to.

Will do at least a 1 night layover to break up long flights despite it often costing more to do this. The last long flight I took was LHR to LAX nonstop. After that, I started to do 1-2 night layovers in NYC. It's not a huge change in flight time for people, but it is significant for me. Takes away from Europe time, but I go to Europe quite often so it's worth it to me.
