How to find house cleaning services?

Hi,

my mother is at a stage where she cant keep up with the cleaning and she has looked into housecleaning/maid companies and they absolutely cannot afford them. i want to know if there are other places we should be looking in order to find house cleaning? the local companies, even with thier mailer coupons are very expensive.
