Alternatives to Appen?

I am thinking of going into freelance writing starting with content mills but I don't know if I can churn out articles at a reasonable hourly rate. The pro of Appen for me is the reasonable and reliable pay.

I got accepted to work for BlogMutt but still have not written my application article so I don't know if I'll make it there.

Currently training for front end web dev gigs but it will be a while until I can be employable.

Does anyone have suggestions? I am a student so I need something like Appen where I can make my own hours.
