Frugal Traveling: I visited this year 8 different countries on 3 different continents as a student working 2-3 days per month only

No comments :

This year I visited Cuba, America, Argentina, Brazil, Finland, Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia for a "little" amount of money.

That's how I did it:

  • Cuba is very cheap to visit and you can live there for under 10$ a day all inclusive

  • America (is expensive, only could afford it because I saved money quite a few time, no excuses here)

  • Argentina, Brazil: Very cheap countries and while traveling I made friends who live there so I didn't have to pay a hostel

  • Finland: In this country food is expensive but traveling is so cheap, knowing people there as well helped me to not to spend too much

  • Thailand, Cambodia & Indonesia: Very cheap countries but expensive hostels and flights, BUT if you go in low season (like I did) you get massive discounts (over 50%) and then everything gets so cheap

So in conclusion, visit "cheap" countries or visit them in low season, that's how you can save a lot of money. Another way is to stay at friends places (you can make friends while traveling without any problems) or just limit your food expenses (means cooking at home or eat a lot of potatoes, rice etc. or at places where locals eat).

What have been your experiences traveling in a frugal way? How far would you bring it with a 1000$?
