Inexpensive decorations for new apartment (video game inspired).
Some DIY projects I've been working on this week. Gamestop has these sort of displays up in their stores a lot which is where I got the idea. I just politely went up and asked the store manager if they had any blank game cases that they didn't need anymore and explained what I wanted to do with them. They were happy to give them to me for free as were a couple other locations. I paid about $3 for the Kingdom Hearts poster and the Zelda poster was free from Gamestop. I'm making few more and spent about $20 on those posters. I know I could have just hung the posters on the wall and called it a day, but this gives them some protection from rips and tears and something more interesting to look at, imo, for free without spending money on frames.
Also, I was showing a co-worker this and they told me they go into Gamestop about once a month and see if they're getting rid of anything and they're happy to give him any posters, cut-outs, display items, etc. I know the same is probably true of a lot of places though. He and his roommates decorated their college house this way.
Happy with how these came out (though some cutting mistakes). I posted them on my social media and received a lot of compliments and had a few people ask if I would make one for them if they provided the supplies.
