Can I make money from a Facebook fan page?

A few years ago I made a fan page on Facebook that somehow managed to gain over 200 000 likes. Some people have approached me and made offers to buy the whole Facebook page, but I want to explore the possibility of posting links or ads for other people/companies, in exchange for money.

I have looked through Facebook's policies and can't figure out if this might get me banned, all I can find is info about advertising YOUR OWN company. Does anyone here have any experience around this, or any other ideas about making money off of a FB page?
