My Leapforce Experience [Failed]
I applied for this opportunity back in July of 2015 thanks to /r/WorkOnline. I FINALLY heard back in January of 2016. I had forgotten that I applied. No matter, I went after it with gusto!
Leapforce is the king (queen?) of canned email, so don't expect any actual communication from this company or any representative. It is what it is.
I scheduled my exam. You get 1 full week to take the 3-part exam. The exam consists of:
- Part 1 - 33 questions with 4 True/False questions under each - EASY
- Part 2 - Practical - 7 scenarios of Desktop Search results
- Part 3 - Practical - 7 scenarios of Mobile Search results
Once your exam begins, you receive an email with a link to download the Leapforce Guidelines. This document is 157 pages. Check it out here - http://ift.tt/1PRadcM
I dedicated 2 full days of my exam time to studying this document as advised. Leapforce makes it clear in no uncertain terms that you need to, at the very least, read this document thoroughly or you will not pass the exam. I read it and took 30 pages of notes as this is how I retain information the best.
NOTE You are allowed to use this document during all 3 parts of the exam and it is encouraged.
The testing was grueling to say the least.
You are only allowed to advance to the next part of the exam when you pass.
I did the first 2 parts on one day, and the third the next day. I spent probably 4 hours on the first 2 parts combined, and another 4 hours on the third. I absolutely did not rush with any of it.
Since I completed the exam on Day 4 of the 7 provided, I had a long wait to receive my results. Just long enough to dream a little about FINALLY having something stable to supplement my freelance income and fill in some pretty big holes. I would finally be able to do normal things again like go out to eat and shop a little bit.
It was not to be. I failed the third part.
I did receive yet another canned email from Leapforce that same day with an opportunity to reschedule and take the exam a second time. I rescheduled, but just couldn't want to retake the exam. In the meantime, I had received a better offer, and I just let this one go. Especially since there are two other companies yet to apply with doing the same thing for comparable money.
Also, without knowing what I did wrong, I wasn't sure how I could improve on the time and effort I had already spent. I was quite meticulous.
The only suggestion I have on how to do better than me is to study the images included in the guide. Really study them and get in your head WHY they are rating them the way they are in the document. That's the only thing I can think that affected my outcome is that I didn't spend enough time with those examples.
GOOD LUCK!
TL;DR - Applied and finally heard from Leapforce after 7 months. Passed the first two parts of the exam with flying colors, and failed the third. Just didn't have the gumption to retake such a grueling test knowing there are other opportunities out there.
