The cheaper way to do pizza

No comments :

Hey r/Frugal!

Here's a trick that I showed a few friends the other day; if you want to have pizza but don't want to pay $10.00 for a pie, or spend all the time and effort making a pizza from scratch, check out your local pizza restaurant and try to buy some dough balls. Here in NM, there's a local joint that sells a 16" dough ball for $3.50 (they don't list it on their menu, but you can always ask), and they package it up with sauce in a full-size pizza box as well! a comparable pizza from a take-n-bake place like Papa Murphy's would cost something like $14.00.

After you get the dough ball back to your kitchen, you have the option to change up your process as you please; if you want to have a party and some friends are willing to wait, you can all pool your cash and get some toppings and drinks at the grocery store. It's so much cheaper than paying the upcharge for dinner and drinks out at a bar, (I personally recommend shelling out for some Hatch Green Chile to top your pizza if they have it in your grocery store, you'll never go back to pizza without it)! If money's a bit tighter, you can always use it to stretch out some leftovers you've got at home and have a new tool in your cooking and meal prep arsenal! Plus you've got a free container to store it in when you're done!

This is also a cheap way to do a fun activity for Father's day!
